New Elementary School in Waterdown
A new chapter is beginning for Waterdown families as we work to open a new Elementary School for the 2027-2028 School Year!
The new school in Waterdown will be built in the Mountainview Heights neighbourhood, and will be located at the intersection of Skinner Road and Great Falls Boulevard. The new school will create 504 new student spaces for children in Kindergarten to Grade 8, and will include a new 88-space child care centre with two preschool rooms, two toddler rooms, and an infant room. The anticipated date of opening is the 2027-2028 school year. Construction is anticipated to start Fall 2025. Learn more here.
Boundary Review for Waterdown Elementary Schools
In preparation for the opening of the new school, there will be a boundary review for the following elementary schools in Waterdown: Allan A. Greenleaf, Balaclava, Flamborough Centre, Guy B. Brown, and Mary Hopkins.
A boundary review is a public review process undertaken to create or modify the attendance area of one or more schools. The changes may be necessary due to new school construction, balancing enrolments, addressing site or facility constraints and supporting evolving program needs.
As part of the process, a Boundary Review Advisory Panel will be established this Fall. Members of the Panel (formed through School Council) will participate and provide feedback on the boundary options for review. It is expected that the boundary review process will be completed in early 2026.
How to Participate
We recognize that boundary reviews can have a large impact on families. You are invited to share your feedback in one of the following ways:
Attend the Public Open House: When: November 27, 2025 at 5:30PM to 7:30PM Where: Waterdown Secondary School Gymnasium
Share your comments online below.
Reach out to your school principal, Boundary Review Advisory Panel, Superintendent of Equity & Student Achievement, or Trustee.
