New Elementary School in Binbrook

A new chapter is beginning for Binbrook families as we work to open a new Elementary School for the 2027-2028 School Year! Binbrook has emerged as one of the Hamilton's fastest-growing communities over the past 15 years. To support this growth, HWDSB identified two sites for new schools. The first site, home to Bellmoore Elementary School, opened in September 2012. Now, a second school site will be built at 3105 Fletcher Road in the southwestern area of Binbrook. The anticipated date of opening is the 2027-2028 school year. Construction is anticipated to start Fall 2025. Learn more here.


Boundary Review for Binbrook Elementary Schools

In preparation for the opening of the new school, there will be a boundary review for the communities of Bellmoore and Shannen Koostachin Elementary Schools.

A boundary review is a public process undertaken to create or modify the attendance area of one or more schools. The changes may be necessary due to new school construction, balancing enrolments, addressing site or facility constraints and supporting evolving program needs.

As part of the process, a Boundary Review Advisory Panel will be established this Fall. Members of the Panel (formed through School Council) will participate and provide feedback on the boundary options for review. It is expected that the boundary review process will be completed in early 2026.


How to Participate

We recognize that boundary reviews can have a large impact on families. You are invited to share your feedback in one of the following ways:

  • Attend the Public Open House
    When: December 2, 2025 at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
    Where: Bellmoore Elementary School Gymnasium

  • Share your comments online below.

  • Reach out to your school principal, Boundary Review Advisory Panel, Superintendent of Equity & Student Achievement, or Trustee.

    Engage will be open for feedback on the recommendation until January 16, 2026. The final report and recommendation will be presented at the Finance and Facilities Board Committee meeting on February 24, 2026.
